WHAT IS AYURVEDIC YOGA MASSAGE?
A Dynamic and Therapeutic Treatment
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) is a dynamic and adaptable form of deep tissue bodywork developed by Master Kasum Modak in Pune, India. It combines focused muscular release, yoga inspired assisted stretches and mindful breath awareness to open the body, release tension and help to regulate the nervous system.
I draw from nearly a decade of AYM experience to offer deep tissue massage infused with yoga movement principles. Sessions can take place on a traditional tatami mat (floor-based) or on a massage table, depending on your needs and comfort.
In classical AYM, we may also use our feet to apply broad and controlled pressure for releasing deeper muscular tension. This technique can be included when a classical yoga massage is floor based and appropriate for the client.
Only natural organic oils, typically almond or grapeseed are used. A finely milled Ayurvedic herbal power, Calamus root, may be added to enhance circulation. Some clients however, prefer oil only treatments; in these cases I refer to the session as Deep Tissue Yoga Massage.
Benefits:
Releases muscular and fascial tension
Improves joint mobility where needed
Improves circulation and energy flow
Supports recovering from fatigue and chronic tension
Complements yoga and other therapeutic practices
Calms the nervous system and promotes restorative rest
The massage is ideal for anyone managing chronic tension, postural stiffness, sports recovery and stress related tightness.
