About this training
This Yin Yoga Teacher Training has changed a lot over the years. When I first began running Yin training in 2018, the focus was mainly on the postures, sequencing and how to teach a balanced class. These are still an important part of the curriculum, but over time, and through my continued education in yoga therapy and my degree, my understanding of Yin Yoga has deepened. The course has evolved each year alongside my own learning and development.
Yin Yoga offers a valuable framework for teaching therapeutic, adaptive classes that meet each person exactly where they are. This training shows you how to apply Yin principles to support physical, emotional and nervous system balance. Whether you are working one-to-one or with a group, you will leave confident in how to teach adaptively in a safe, practical and supportive way.
This training is designed for teachers and practitioners and is grounded in trauma-informed practices. It enables you to teach and experience Yin yoga in a way that is informed, responsive, and rooted in understanding why you are teaching and how it can genuinely benefit your students or clients through safe, evidence-informed practice.
Course Overview
I have over the years refined this curriculum to reflect a more therapeutic and embodied approach. The training is still divided into three modules, but now each builds coherently upon the last. Together, they offer a clear and practical framework for teaching Yin Yoga with depth, safety and purpose.
-
Discover the essentials, its origins, guiding principles and also its therapeutic potential. You will learn how stillness, breath and mindful practice and awareness can shape a practice that balances body and mind. We explore how Yin differs from other yoga styles and how to build intelligent, grounding classes that restore balance and calm to the whole person
-
Understand the physical structures that shape movement and stillness. You will learn to read the body through the lens of functional anatomy, fascia and adapting Yin postures for different skeletal and muscular patterns and shapes. This knowledge helps you design safe, accessible and personalised classes that meets and supports your students exactly where they are.
-
This module explores the energetic side of Yin Yoga through both Daoist and classical yoga traditions. You will study how the Five Elements, Meridian theory, and Chakra system can shape balance and wellbeing, alongside Samkhya philosophy and the Panchamaya model. Together, these frameworks show how we can use Yin practice to support physical, emotional and energetic integration. Helping you to design classes that reach into the subtler layers of experience.
