A personalised and Custom Yoga Practice that meets you where you are
While group yoga classes can be great and a lot of fun, they aren't always suitable for everyone,
particularly if you're managing health conditions such as limited mobility, hypermobility, chronic pain or fatigue, hip or knee injuries. Yoga should always be safe and supportive, and most importantly, it should help you connect to your body and breathe and build a practice that works for you.
As your private yoga teacher, I offer personalised movement practices designed specifically for YOUR needs. Whether you're dealing with an injury or other condition, private yoga sessions provide the support you need to practice safely and effectively. Your yoga journey should reflect your individual needs and adapt to the changes in your body and life.
one-TO-one yoga for you
Yoga should never be one-size-fits-all; it should evolve with you.
In our private sessions, I incorporate various aspects of yoga, including asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation. My goal is to help you:
Find a practice tailored to your specific needs.
Gain strength and mobility and reduce pain.
Establish a mindful practice that connects you deeper to your body and breath.
private sessions ensure your practice is supportive and adaptable, helping you through whatever life brings.
I aim to create a yoga practice that helps alleviate pain, enhances strength and mobility, and fosters mindfulness. You’ll feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported by a dedicated and compassionate teacher, ensuring a practice that’s truly your own.
HERE TO HELP GUIDE AND SUPPORT YOU.
Hello. My name is Gemma Maryan, and I am your yoga teacher. Since 2020, I have taught clients privately, both online and in person, in Glasgow, offering bespoke practices for students and teachers to help them navigate injuries and health conditions. Sometimes, group yoga classes are not appropriate; either they do not fit our schedule, or the classes do not fit our specific needs due to injury or health conditions - With nearly 20 years of practice experience and 13 years of teaching studio classes, private and virtual lessons, I bring a wealth of knowledge to create a yoga practice designed specifically for you.

Online lessons are just as effective as in-person lessons. I teach cue-based yoga classes (which means I do not practice with you). I guide you through your practice, only using demonstrations where needed.
They offer a convenient way to learn yoga at a time which works for you and without the need to travel. Which means sessions can fit into your schedule and lifestyle easily.
Practicing in your own space can help you feel more at ease and confident, allowing you to explore new poses and techniques without the pressure of a group setting. I have been teaching online since 2020 and in my experience online private sessions are just as effective as in person.

I teach in-person classes in two locations: once a month in Glasgow and the rest of the time in Aberdeen. I usually travel to my clients in Aberdeen but soon I will have a home studio and clients will be able to travel to me if that is more convenient for them. In Glasgow I teach from my home in the West End.

Online private yoga lessons are conducted via Zoom which is an online video conferencing platform. You will receive a link via email to join the session at the scheduled time.
Simply click the provided link and follow the instructions to join me online. You might need to download the software if you haven't already, but again instructions are in the email and set up is very easy.
In our first session together I will go through how to set up your camera at the right angle and height so that I am able to see you fully.

A yoga mat is highly recommended for comfort and stability. Props like blocks, straps, or bolsters can enhance your practice but are not essential as we can utilise things in and around the home, such as pillows, blankets and throws.
I would recommend purchasing two yoga blocks (the sturdier the better) but again we can work around this if you do not have them.
-
Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows free movement.
Do not wear trainers for the session as we practice yoga in our bare feet as this offers greater stability, and bare feet enhances proprioception, our body’s ability to sense its position and movement in space, which is crucial for maintaining balance and coordination.

I do have a cancellation policy that allows for rescheduling or refunds with advanced notice.
I prefer 24 hours notice but do understand that emergency situations can come up. If this is the case the best way to contact me is on my mobile which can be found on the booking confirmation email.
