Module 3: Anatomy of Moving Energy - Daoist and Samkhya Philosophy, Meridian, and Chakra Theory
In Module 3: Anatomy of Moving Energy, we dive into the dynamic interplay between Daoist and Samkhya philosophies, Meridian theory, and Chakra knowledge, providing you with an in-depth understanding of energetic anatomy that is unique to Yin Yoga. This module is designed to integrate both Eastern and Indian philosophical approaches to energy, bringing a multi-dimensional perspective to your teaching.
Daoist Philosophy and the Five Elements
Rooted in ancient Chinese wisdom, Daoist philosophy views the universe and human experience as a balance of natural elements and energies. You’ll learn the principles of Daoism, focusing on the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and how each relates to aspects of physical and emotional well-being. Discover how to incorporate these elements into Yin classes, using them as intentional themes to help your students connect with their internal landscape.Samkhya Philosophy and the Energetic Body
Incorporating insights from Samkhya philosophy, one of the oldest Indian philosophical schools, this module will also guide you through understanding the subtle layers of existence, from the physical (Annamaya Kosha) to the mental (Manomaya Kosha) and beyond. Through the lens of Samkhya, you’ll explore how the Chakras align with these layers, creating a bridge between the physical body and the mind, and learn to integrate this perspective into your sequencing and teaching approach. The Chakra System and Energetic Qualities
You’ll dive into the Chakra system and learn the characteristics, emotional associations, and energetic functions of each chakra. With both Daoist and Samkhya insights, you’ll gain tools for designing practices that guide students to explore their subtle bodies and understand how energy flows through these key centers.Meridian Lines and Energetic Pathways
Rooted in Daoist thought, Meridians act as channels for Qi (life force) and correspond with organs, emotions, and the Five Elements. You’ll learn how Meridian Lines influence physical health and emotional balance and how Yin postures can activate these channels to support students’ energetic alignment and well-being.Chakra and Meridian-Based Sequencing
Building on your understanding of the Chakra and Meridian systems, you’ll explore methods to sequence Yin classes that align with either or both systems, addressing common energetic imbalances. Whether guiding students through chakras or working with paired meridians, you’ll learn to create intentional, healing sequences that bring balance and insight.Balancing Practices for Group Classes
Drawing on Daoist and Samkhya perspectives, you’ll learn how to intuitively assess the energy in a group setting and design balanced practices to restore harmony in the physical, mental, and energetic bodies. You’ll be equipped to cultivate environments where students can explore Yin Yoga’s subtle, transformative effects in an inclusive and personalised way. This module brings a truly integrative approach, blending Daoist and Samkhya insights to enrich your teaching practice.
